Option
1: One-Day
Board/Staff Retreat
Building
of Retreat Agenda: There are two options for building the agenda:
Option
A: Key
issues and concerns are shared with Mark from the agency executive,
leadership development chair and/or president. Mark sends out
preliminary material. Once there is agreement for Mark to facilitate
the retreat, an initial retreat agenda is developed and emailed
to identified key lay/professional leaders and the retreat
planning committee (if there is one) for their comments, thoughts
and suggestions. Following the receipt of comments, thoughts
and suggestions, the agenda is tweaked, adjusted and finalized.
The actual session(s) are then constructed, the participant
handout prepared and sent to the agency executive and/or other
key identified individuals for final approval. (This can also
be handled via phone.)
Option
B: When
time permits, and the scope of potential needs is very broad,
key lay and key professional staff will be emailed a questionnaire
to determine strengths and challenges. The data from this questionnaire
will be helpful in the establishment of the retreat agenda
and/or to support projected retreat goals. Again, the data
received from the questionnaire, along with Mark’s initial
analysis and program recommendations, will be sent to identified
lay/professionals for their comments, thoughts and suggestions.
Within
4 weeks of the actual retreat date: Mark will facilitate the finalization
of specific retreats goals/content with key professional staff
and board and/or retreat leaders. Typical goals for one-day retreats
include: clarifying goals, roles and responsibilities, relationships
and processes; team building, examining/revising the mission statement;
and handling board members/leaders/staff members who do not honor
their commitments.
Early
on in the planning process, Mark will request and review current
copies of your organization’s bylaws, and selected programmatic
marketing, and PR materials in order to get a clear picture of
your agency.
Financial
Commitment: Call
or email for current for
